Key Responsibilities
Serves as delegate and gatekeeper to DD PPM Head to proactively manage DD commitments and interactions with key stakeholders across development and the enterprise (i.e. lead through influence
Partners with DD PPM Head to set the DD PPM Strategic Vision and Guiding Principles
Develops yearly objectives and priorities for the DD PPM organization, translate objectives into actionable functional plans, track progress, ensure ongoing risk mitigation and contingency planning for each objective. Plans workshops, developments engagement plans, manages team effectiveness, incorporates Leadership Team commitments into operations rhythm.
Manages DD PPM strategic business operations. Drives quarterly budget projections for the DD PPM Head including resource requirements, escalation of business risks, and tracking of progress against goals. Tracks resourcing requirements and occupancy strategy in partnership with Human Resources. Leads preparation of Business reviews.
Leads Centralized Drug Development Congress planning and budget targets across therapeutic areas and DD functions. Accountable for aligning to Congress Strategy in partnership with Medical Congress Planning. Manage congress planning system and reporting. Manage registration for the drug development attendees.
Leads R&D Business continuity and Crisis management team accountable for delivering the vision and strategy for the BMS R&D BCCM capability. Embed best practices while also ensuring it is fit-for-purpose for the unique needs of Research, Drug Development, BMS enterprise partners, and external stakeholders. Serve as Crisis Response Leadership (or delegate as appropriate) reporting to the Enterprise PMO, BMS LT and or (Crisis Event Response Team (CERT), as required.
Accountable for aligning to the Drug Development Strategic Road Map and drives annual DD Business reviews presented to BMS LT in partnership across drug development leadership team and DD Strategy & Operations community of practice.
Leads Program management for Drug Development and PPM Events and leadership meetings (e.g, , extended leadership meetings, town halls, speaking engagements, etc.)
Develops leadership messaging (delegating as needed) (e.g., leadership change management messaging, reinforcement of communications cascade from Enterprise, Drug Development LT, and PPM Head)
Drives strategic business improvement initiatives, manages evolution of organizational adaptations and change management to create efficiencies and optimize ways of working within Development org in partnership with cross functional stakeholders.
Communications: Leads integrated information strategy and infrastructure for drug development to streamline information across drug development to drive efficiency, build transparency and drive delivery of portfolio priorities and enterprise ambitions. Leads cross-functional team to drive integrated approach across R&D Communications, Human resources, DD LT Strategy and Operations, and P&SO leadership.
Manages an integrated community of practice across DD Strategic operations, and enterprise partners as appropriate, to ensure consistency across the development organization
As the Business Operations Functional Leader accountable for talent development, mentorship and expanding knowledge and experiences as a talent incubator – identifying opportunities for skill expansion and enterprise experience across P&SO, DD and enabling partners.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Life Sciences or Business Management, and/or advanced degree in related discipline preferred (e.g., RN MD, PhD, Pharm D, MS)
10-15 years of experience with the pharmaceutical industry; prior experience as a chief of staff preferred
Experience with Business Crisis Management and Corporate Compliance Certification is a plus.
Experience and demonstrated proficiency in managing direct/indirect employees and leading teams
Business operations experience and familiarity with divisional management preferred
Demonstrated strength in partnering with business leaders to assess critical needs and performance, developing and effectively managing plans and initiatives, and delivering business outcomes
Comfort in agile work environment and capable of bringing structure to vaguely defined problems while using creative yet pragmatic problem-solving approaches
Proactive, organized, and promoter of diversity and inclusivity
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; strong change & stakeholder management skills
Ability to build relationships and influence, and drive organizational engagement across functions and sites
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Excellent influencing and negotiating experience and capabilities in a matrix environment
Strong project management and execution skills and is able to manage multiple projects and prioritize as needed. Ability to plan and conduct projects within a multi-disciplinary environment.

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:
Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility.
