About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer for Corporate Risk Control team within the Control Management organization. This role will support the LOB Chief Risk Officers (CROs) for the Corporate and Investment Bank, Consumer and Small Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Wealth and Investment Management, and Consumer Lending as well as Strategic Enterprise Risk Management (SERM).Control teams are responsible for partnering with the Corporate Risk teams to support implementation and oversight of control programs including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Internal Control Policy (ICP) requirements, and Quality Control and Quality Assurance. This Officer will serve as a key individual contributor and must have demonstrated ability to lead and foster a collaborative environment that ensures timely communication, swift execution, and strong cooperation. This Officer will work closely with business leaders and control teams across Corporate Risk to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. The person in this role is expected to exemplify a strong bias for execution, exceptional and deliberate planning, and leadership with integrity. In this role, you will: Lead Risk Mitigation Initiatives – Lead complex initiatives aimed at addressing current and emerging risks that have a broad impact across the organization. Evaluate Control Management Impact – Act as a key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the effectiveness of decisions within the Control Management function. Consult on Risk Strategies – Monitor moderately complex, business-specific programs and provide risk management consulting to help design and implement mitigation strategies. Report on Control Effectiveness – Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report the impact of decisions and controls to the appropriate business group or functional area. Develop Risk Monitoring Processes – Design and implement processes and controls for ongoing risk monitoring and reporting. Identify and Advise on Emerging Risks – Collaborate with business groups to identify current and emerging risks in operations and provide guidance on mitigation strategies. Support Control Program Execution – Assist in implementing and executing Control Programs, ensuring effective risk identification, measurement, monitoring, and mitigation; advise business leaders on risks, issues, and remediation. Enhance Control Environment via RCSA – Contribute to strengthening the control environment through the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program; participate in workshops and support the development of new controls and action plans. Design and Validate Controls – Promote the design and enhancement of controls in partnership with business owners, including defining effectiveness measures, supporting implementation, and validating outcomes. Interpret Policy and Governance – Provide counsel to group leaders on interpreting policies, guidelines, and governance programs, and support the implementation of program elements. Analyze Data for Risk Insights – Perform analysis on large datasets to uncover themes, conduct root cause analysis, identify risks, and develop remediation plans. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: Risk Management – Proven experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to support organizational resilience. Communication Skills – Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities for effective collaboration and reporting. Analytical Precision – Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Reporting & Metrics – Experience in developing comprehensive reports and performance metrics to support decision-making. Industry Knowledge – Background in the financial services industry, with familiarity in its standards and regulatory environment. Issue Management Expertise – Advanced understanding of issue management policies and procedures. SHRP Proficiency – Knowledge of the Shared Risk Platform (SHRP), including its reporting and issue management functionalities. Relationship Building – Ability to consult, build, and maintain strong working relationships across departments and teams. Presentation Development – Skilled in creating presentation materials for audiences at all organizational levels. Organizational Influence – Ability to influence stakeholders across all levels, including senior management. Executive Engagement – Proven capability to influence executive decision-making and negotiate resolutions on critical program issues. Data & Analytics – Experience in reporting and analytics, or a combination of both, to support strategic initiatives. RCSA Knowledge – Familiarity with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) processes and frameworks.
