
Summary: Monitors and evaluates the overall operation of the local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). Ensures optimum performance and utility of these networks.
Job Responsibilities:
Network Management
- Oversees the management and performance of the corporate network environment
- Primary responsibilities include design, deployment, maintenance and support of the corporate network including firewalls for production and Wi-Fi networks.
- Provides oversight, including reporting regarding security and utilization of all system access and resources, performs proactive maintenance and monitoring to ensure stable and available network performance.
- Provides troubleshooting guidance and training for Assistant and Staff level Network Engineering staff.
- Communicates and works with vendors as appropriate for network troubleshooting of complex issues.
- Ensures all resources are deployed to ensure high levels of availability and optimal performance while adhering to security baseline standards.
Network Vendor Management
- Provides senior level oversight and direction for the support, maintenance, analysis, monitoring and administration of the corporate networking environment both onsite and off-premises.
- Serves as the primary contact for any managed services partner relationships and escalation point for external and internal support staff for complex issues.
- Participates in the design and development of enterprise solutions and architectures with the VP, Infrastructure Engineering & Operations and Senior Management.
Project Management
- Leads medium to large sized projects as the technical expert and liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures all existing, planned and/or new technical implementations are in accordance with established standards and industry best practices.
- Periodically reviews standards documentation for accuracy and ensures adherence to established policy and standards is being followed by networking team.
Network Maintenance
- Assists the VP, Infrastructure Engineering & Operations, implements new network infrastructure and modifies existing to support the strategic initiatives of the bank and ensure the sustainability of business operations and availability of services.
- Maintains abreast of technological advances in network systems and equipment.
- Recommends improvements when appropriate.
Network Security
- Ensures company data and assets are safeguarded by making sure cybersecurity procedures and regulatory guidelines are documented, followed, tested and remediated when appropriate.
Other Responsibilities
- Responsible for evaluating, mentoring, developing and elevating privileges of junior network team members as appropriate.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic engineering, or related disciplines;
- Minimum 10 years of professional technology solution engineering or related experience;
- Strong knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancing and security concepts;
- Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software to resolve operational issues and restore services;
- Ability to maintain maximum availability of all network components;
- Deep understanding of the TCP/IP protocol family;
- Deep understanding of networking technologies;
- Deep understanding of data communication, data processing, and telecommunications facilities;
- Knowledge of Security principles and familiarity with frameworks;
- Routing and switching experience, including Network Security architecture;
- Excellent analytical, organizational, process improvement and problem-solving skills;
- Planning, design, rollout and support of multi-site, global IP telephony and unified communications systems;
- Experience with installation and configuration of enterprise network and systems infrastructure devices, cabling, and operational best practices;
- Excellent communication skills, both written (documentation / diagrams) and verbal;
- Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required;
- Ability to travel to Columbia Bank locations and offices within the tristate area as needed.
Preferred:
- Fortinet Certification s NSE 4 or higher;
- Experience with FortiGate, FortiSwitch and FortiManager as well as Cisco and Aruba
Hours: Incumbents in this role, due to the nature of the role, must be available to be “on-call” in the case of emergencies. “On-call” includes being available during unusual normal operating business hours, including weekends

Schedule:
This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule; 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home based on business need.
