
Summary: Assists the Business Development Manager in all areas of business development. Solicits and processes commercial business loans. Services approved loans and monitors repayment activities. Develops and implements branch call program and recommends branch goals for the assigned region. Develops special programs and products and submits for approval. Implements new programs. Calls on priority prospective and existing business customers to sell Bank’s products and services.
Job Responsibilities:
New Business and Loan Servicing
- Interview prospective and existing commercial loan applicants.
- Recommend loan approvals to the Business Development Manager.
- Inform applicants of loan approval or denial.
- Service commercial loans originating from the Business Development area.
- Update loan information annually (e.g., collateral, loan and business status).
- Monitor repayment activities and work with customers when repayment is unsatisfactory.
Branch Sales Partnership
- Develop and implement Branch Call Program for the assigned region.
- Establish priorities, prepare schedules and recommend branch goals.
- Train and counsel Branch Managers in selling techniques and Bank products and services.
- Implement special programs and promotional meetings for Branch Managers.
- Accompany Branch Managers on sales calls and monitors their progress.
- Answer questions and resolve any unusual problems.
- Confers with SVP/Retail Banking on Branch Managers’ sales call performance and results.
- Train and assist Branch Managers when changes in guidelines occur.
Business Development and Client Relationship Management
- Call on prospective and high-value existing customers.
- Promote new and additional business for the Bank.
- Meet with important customers and potential customers to assess their business needs.
- Review files for business development leads.
- Follow up on business development calls.
- Work closely with key business customers (e.g., high balances, multiple accounts, positive exposure, etc.) to ensure satisfaction.
Community Engagement and Brand Promotion
- Represent the Bank in civic and community functions to further enhance its image and develop business.
- Participate in trade shows and seminars to promote the Bank.
Market Research and Product Development
- Compile and analyze customer data, statistics and information received from customers.
- Develop and submit ideas for new products or services to the Business Development Manager.
Regulatory Compliance & Knowledge
- Maintain current knowledge of all State and Federal Regulations related to business development, marketing and commercial lending.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lending, business development, or retail banking.
- Proven track record in sales, client relationship management, and loan servicing.
- Strong understanding of commercial lending practices and loan structuring.
- Familiarity with applicable State and Federal banking and lending regulations.
- Knowledge of bank products and services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain client and internal relationships.
- Ability to network and meet with customers/partners/influencers in pursuit of new business to assess customer needs and develop preliminary solutions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, initiative-taker attitude, self-awareness, and integrity.
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- History of community involvement through volunteerism and/or representation with charitable organizations.
- Relationships with local, regional and national non-profits highly preferred.
- Background in both retail and commercial banking environments.
