About the Role
Compass Health is currently seeking a Court Evaluator to join our team at the Mukilteo Evaluation & Treatment (E&T) Facility. This role is responsible for providing assessments, evaluations, and oversight for clients involved in the Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) process. You will work closely with treatment teams, legal representatives, and the court system to ensure accurate, comprehensive, and timely case presentation.
About the Evaluation & Treatment Facility
Our 16-bed inpatient facility serves adults under involuntary detention or commitment in accordance with Washington State’s Involuntary Treatment Act (RCW 71.05). The team works in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, providing stabilization, treatment, and coordination of care. The Court Evaluator plays a crucial role in bridging the clinical and legal processes to ensure client needs and court requirements are met.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations for ITA clients.
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the ITA court process for assigned clients.
- Collaborate with treatment teams, attorneys, and other stakeholders to prepare accurate court documentation.
- Ensure court reports and testimony reflect a thorough understanding of the client’s clinical presentation and treatment plan.
- Testify in court proceedings as an expert witness on client status, treatment needs, and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in accordance with legal and agency requirements.
- Act as a liaison between the E&T facility and the Snohomish County ITA Court system.
Requirements
- MA/MS/MSW in a Behavioral Science-related field.
- Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) per WAC definition (preferred).
- Experience working with the ITA process and court systems strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Washington State mental health law, particularly RCW 71.05.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including court testimony.
- Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check.
